With the soul desire number and the cultivated personality number we’re breaking into new territory: the understanding that everything in the world can be numerology’d. Everything that has a name, as well as every number sequence to exist, can be looked at and worked with through the tool of numerology. So, get out the little calculator on your phone and let’s unlock this next layer of understanding.

What is a Cultivated Personality Number
In most numerology texts this number is simply called the personality number, I started calling it the cultivated personality number a few years back, so you’ll only hear it referred to as such in my practice. The idea of a cultivated personality seems contrived and false, as if the persona we cultivate throughout our lives is a mask we wear to hide our true selves, but that’s not really true.
It would be strange and inappropriate to act the same way in front of our bosses as we do our lovers, or to act in the way we do with our friends when in the company of our grandma. We are multifaceted and highly unique humans, the ability to understand and recognize which aspects of our true self will be most useful and accepted in any given circumstance is a gift not a farce.
While the cultivated personality number might not be able to give you insight into the vastness of your outward expression, it can tell you about who you believe your best self to be. These are the qualities within us that we feel comfortable and confident in showing the world at large. It’s how we communicate, it’s how we socialize and it’s how we show up in friendships.
How to Calculate Your Cultivated Personality Number
As we learned in the last article on soul desire numbers, a large part of numerology involves names. For the cultivated personality number you’ll be adding together all of the numerical values of the consonants in your full name.
It’s common for people to have more than one name. Perhaps you got married and changed your last name, in that case I suggest that you calculate the cultivated personality number for both names to compare and contrast the differences. You might also have a real name and a dead name, in that case use your real name, however feel free to calculate the cultivated personality number for your dead name if you are merely curious to know how the energy shifted from one to the other.
Below is the chart used to determine the numeric value of each of the letters of the english alphabet.
Now write out all of the consonants in your name-first, middle and last- and then the numeric value of each of those letters. Once you’ve got all of that sorted, let’s talk about the three different methods you can use to calculate your cultivated personality number.
Adding Across
To add across you simply write out all of the numbers from the consonants of your name, adding them together one by one like in the example below. If you get a double digit number, simply add together the two numbers until you get a single digit number. This rule however does not apply when the double digit letter is a repeating number such as 11, 22 or 33. Instead we leave these numbers as is. These are called master numbers and hold a special significance.
Adding Down
For this method you want to honor each name as it is. So you’ll write out a short addition sentence for each of the names in your full name, adding the numbers within the name together until you have one single digit base number. After you have those single digit numbers (or double digit master numbers, the same rule applies here) you’ll add them all together. Most of the time with cultivated personality numbers you will end up with another double digit number, so once again you’ll add it together until you get a single digit number.
My Method
Once again you’ll honor each of the names by adding together the numbers within that name-first, middle and last- first. However, I like double digit numbers (not just the master numbers), so after the first round of addition you’ll leave the number as is. Then you’ll add together the numbers from each of the added down numbers of each name. Once again, I like double digit numbers, so whatever number you get from this part of the equation is known as the detail number since its purpose is to give deeper insight into how the single digit base number manifests. So we still want to know the single digit base number, meaning that you will add the original product (AKA the detail number) together until you find that single digit base number. It’ll make more sense when you look at the example below.
What Does This Mean for You?
To understand the way in which you show up for the world, read through the list below
1: you are unique and people find you both fascinating and a bit intimidating since you boldly follow your own path. You move through life with your wants and needs coming first. Sometimes this can lead to a bit of a lone wolf mentality but it’s just about finding the people who march to their own drum like you do.
2: you value partnerships and being with others, but your acute sensitivity in social situations makes you more of an introvert. You are very intune with the emotions of those around you and will be drained by others quickly. Still, cultivating loving relationships is important to you and will give you energy at the end of the day.
3: you are a joy to be around and often take it upon yourself to be the entertainment for others to consume. You are funny and intelligent, always knowing the right thing to say at the right time, but you should practice active listening so that you don’t miss out on what others have to share as well.
4: You are a loyal and honest person which makes you a great friend. You provide a solid energy of support for those around you, giving off a very grounded energy despite what may be going on in your life. People will often ask you for life advice, but remember to take your own advice from time to time.
5: you bring fire and spice to the lives of the people around you with your vivacious energy and unpredictability. Others perceive you as a risk taker with your love for adventure and spontaneity. The version of yourself that you feel comfortable sharing with others is one that keeps people guessing and keeps them on their toes, just be cautious of running from the difficult aspects of life.
6: you’re at your best when you are in service to others. You’re a natural caregiver in friendships and relationships, always being the person who people can lean on and depend upon in trying times. Make sure you aren’t overextending yourself to the point of forgetting to care for yourself though.
7: you have a certain aloofness that people are drawn to, as if there is always something more just beyond the surface of the words you are saying. People can sense your innate wisdom and you pride yourself on being an intelligent person. Be careful not to isolate yourself due to feeling superior to others.
8: you have a powerful energy that you convey to others when you are in their presence. Things seem to work in your favor and you are quite good at getting the things you want in life. You may find that people tend to put you on a pedestal, which can be quite fun, but make sure to keep your ego in check in order to have healthy relationships.
9: you’re always down to make a new friend, go on an adventure, and experience something new. You move through life with a certain jovial quality and a genuine love for life. People see you as an intelligent and optimistic person, but be cautious of trying to be everything to everyone.
11: people look to you for advice, guidance and leadership. You come off as wise and intelligent, someone who has seen a lot of what life has to offer. It’s very easy for people to be drawn to you and in turn seek to learn all that they can from you. Remember that other people's journeys through life are not your ultimate responsibility. If this doesn’t feel like it’s hitting the nail on the head for you, go back and read for the number 2.
22: you work really well with other people and you often find yourself involved in groups with a purpose, vision or goal for the future. You like being around driven and hardworking people because that’s the energy you bring to the table. Remember that everyone has something important to bring to the table and life will be easier. If this one isn’t resonating as much, read for the number 4.
33: you have a lot of love to give to the world and you truly are someone who will be of great service to humanity in your lifetime. You are kind and gentle with a good heart, and the love you have to share with others is truly extended to all people everywhere, not just your closest friends and extended community. You do run the risk of giving all of your love to others and forgetting to pour that love back into yourself though. If this doesn’t quite sound like you, go back and read for the number 6.
